Enrollment in Solarize Frankfort 2024 is now closed.
The Kentucky Solar Energy Society, City of Frankfort, Franklin County Fiscal Court, KSU Land Grant Program, UK Cooperative Extension Service, and Apogee-Climate & Energy Transitions are partnering to offer Solarize Frankfort, a program that gives area homeowners, small businesses, farms, government agencies, and non-profit organizations bulk purchasing power to obtain discounted rates on solar installations. Solarize Frankfort makes it easier to invest in renewable energy by connecting participants with pre-screened solar installers and by providing access to bulk purchase discounts.
The Solarize Frankfort program makes it easier to go solar by:

All Solarize Frankfort projects contracted in 2024 are expected to be installed and operational by December 31, 2024.
By going solar, you will:
Eligible applicants
Solarize Frankfort is open to all residents of Franklin County and five of six surrounding counties* (Anderson, Henry, Owen, Scott, and Woodford), as well as small businesses, places of worship, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. (*Residents of Shelby County are eligible to participate in Solarize Louisville). A 30% Federal Tax Credit for solar PV and battery storage systems is available to homeowners and businesses, and is now also available to non-profits and governmental agencies.
Each Solarize participant is responsible for the full cost of their solar installation, and all contracts will be solely between the participating property owner and the solar installer. KYSES, the City, the County, and other partners do not assume any liability related to the installation.
Be aware that some companies or individuals might falsely claim to be associated with this program. Solarize Frankfort will not come to your home or call you unless you have completed an Enrollment Form.
Will solar panels work on my roof?
Solarize Frankfort provides free solar assessments to help people determine if solar panels will work for their home, business, or organization, with no obligation to buy anything.
The assessments account for:
If an applicant's property is a good fit for solar, their information will be shared with one of our two selected installers, Daily Green Power or Pure Power Solar, who will contact the applicant within three days to discuss next steps. If the property is not a good fit for solar, we will let the owner know and the reason(s) why. If your property has undergone recent changes, a reassessment can be provided.

As you consider installing renewable energy on your home, please be aware that weatherization (sealing around windows and doors), home insulation, and updates to mechanical systems like heat pumps, water heaters, and replacement of old equipment with up-to-date Energy Starr appliances can also provide large energy savings, and in some cases have very favorable return-on-investment. Contact your electric utility to find out what services and incentives they offer to help their customers conserve energy.
